Who should travel for prosthetic care?

Travel Prosthetics may be right for you if you:

  • Want a clear plan in a defined timeframe

For referral coordination, Leimkuehler Travel Prosthetics supports complex fitting resolution and out-of-area patients with clear documentation and follow-up.

Compassionate, patient-centered care.
You’ll be listened to, educated on your options, and supported with a clear plan to take home.

Insurance support.
We work with all major insurance providers and, if necessary, offer solutions such as grants to ensure you get the care you need.

How does Travel Prosthetics work?

Our streamlined process allows you to receive your prosthetic in a week or less, all while staying in our area for comprehensive evaluation and treatment. Here’s how it works:

1) Start with a video consultation. Tell us what’s happening and what you want to do comfortably again. Once we determine you’re a good fit for our program, we’ll work with you to arrange lodging and travel to our Amherst facility.

2) One-week intensive visit.
You’ll receive focused, hands on care with experienced prosthetic specialists and a coordinated schedule—no endless back-and-forth.

3) Custom Fabrication.
Using state-of-the-art technology and materials, we’ll create your prosthesis in-house, ensuring the perfect fit and functionality.

4) Head home with confidence – Final Fitting & Adjustment.
Before you head home, we’ll conduct a final fitting and any necessary adjustments, ensuring you’re ready to return home with a working, comfortable prosthesis that fits and functions, and a clear plan you understand moving forward.

My surgeon, at Cleveland Clinic, referred me to Josh Green as a mentor prior to my RBKA. Josh has been an amputee for 39 years and was able to answer a lot of my questions and concerns before my surgery. Josh invited me to the company he works at, Leimkuehler Orthotic Prosthetic Center, to talk and see what all they do. I met one of the prosthetists and was invited to their company picnic. I met other amputees and prosthetists there. Everyone was kind and supportive. I was introduced to John Fabian, a prosthetist, who spent time talking to me and offered to answer any questions I had anytime, even though I’m not his client. He said he loves his job and just wants to help people.

After my in-town prosthetist did not work out, I chose to drive two hours to Leimkuehler Orthotic-Prosthetic Center to see John and Josh. John has been wonderful, kind, knowledgeable, and supportive. He’s always encouraging me that I can do this. Josh is also always available for support and to answer questions. The entire staff at Leimkuehler is like family now. All the prosthetists there pop in and talk to me and my husband at my appointments. I know I made the right choice in switching companies and prosthetists, even if I have to drive two hours, it’s well worth it.
